Engineering Solutions for a Sustainable World
For over 50 years, TCC-CIMET at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been at the forefront of technology transfer, advanced manufacturing, engineering research, and technology entrepreneurship skill development in Africa. Established in 1972, the Centre has steadfastly adhered to its core principles while integrating business process innovations to ensure sustainable operations.
In 2019, the UNESCO General Conference declared that World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development would be celebrated annually on March 4th. As the only UNESCO Category II Centre for engineering education excellence in Africa, TCC-CIMET is dedicated to commemorating this significant day. The theme for the 2026 World Engineering Day (WED26) is “Smart Engineering for a sustainable future through innovation and digitalization”
To mark this occasion, TCC-CIMET is organizing a series of activities that underscore the importance of engineering in sustainable development. These activities will include webinars and seminars, aligning with UNESCO’s capacity-building effort.Aligning with the theme for World Engineering Day 2026, “Smart Engineering for a sustainable future through innovation and digitalization,” TCC-CIMET aims to engage the community, aspiring engineering students, current engineering students, and artisans through a series of capacitybuilding, workshops, seminars, and talk shows.Our goal is to make engineering a tangible reality for all participants.
